When In Romans

The phrase “When in Rome” is often used when someone adopts the custom of a foreign place, oftentimes in an attempt to blend in (or be unified) with the culture. By Jesus’ blood, we are unified - part of one family and one mission regardless of our background. But we are also called to stand out from the sinful world. Paul’s letter to the church in Rome speaks to both. As we grow closer to Jesus, we become more unified as the body of Christ, standing out from the sinful world around us, but also having a greater impact in advancing the Gospel.
